My World no 6

At Maison Tranquille we have a little horse family that I have shown you three of before. Now I will show you the top mare, Mobilia and her daughter Shamona.  Vanessa, my grand daugther has been riding since she was very little. Here she is nearly 10 years. Being 10 years doesn’t make you tall enough for an Arabian horse, so it’s easier if you can find a plateau to mount from. Sometimes it’s good to just be stubborn or you’ll miss out of the fun. This place look good so Vanessa try the first time. Shamona is eating and doesn’t really care about what’s going on.

Every cat we have had is following the theater and attending the walks if they can,

Third try, the other way around. It’s ok to mount a horse from both sides, you just have to train the horse that things like that happens. Steady now,

and her mother on Mobilia. Mobilia used to were shoes, wear a bridle and a saddle in her youth. Now she is very content wearing non of the above.    A real natural life.

Easter in La Pène 12. April 2009

Thought this would be of interest, it is so easy to forget that nature is providing us with everything we need:    Easter eggs dyed naturally
A little soundtrack of our Barn Swallows from: Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Sound & Video 
Our little colony of Barn Swallows, Les Hirondelles, is suddenly sitting in one of the parasoll trees on the terrace. Over the years now we have noticed that each of them has a different pattern of white or black spots. (I just love to watch and listen to birds, I don’t now so much about them.)

and of course, here is the view today :)

I like, and all the guests over the years like to watch the swallows and the nests. Either daddy is sitting on the shelf and getting food for his beloved, or he is on the eggs and mom is on the shelf and catching the food. When the kids come, they fly back and forth all day.  Here daddy is on the shelf. That is easy to see since he has no black spots on the breast.

Today in La Pène, 11. April 2009

Guess what, it rains. It’s weather for growing. I have my sky view today also, just for the record, but it’s almost the same. The greens, the greys, the browns. The colours of the vegetation sort of stands out more in this wet landscape. It’s clearer and cleaner.
The house in the middle was the old school in St. Just de Bélengard.

The wind has blown over and the swallows can choose their direction again. Yesterday they had a hard time to get back in to the nest, but there will be Barn swallows kids this year too under the terrace roof. This year they will only have one nest. I have pictures from 2007 and 8 that shows how the same couple and kids utilize two over the summer.




However, around christmas the biggest nest fell down.

It doesn’t look like they are going to build up again, but we will see.
    
They came back this year too and it’s like welcoming the returning guests for the summer. For now they want peace and quiet and they don’t like the attention “Whiskie” the cat gives them.

The sky over La Pène 10. April 2009

We are treated with a spectacle today. As earlier in April it is not completely grey,

and it is not completely blue either.

Sky Watch no 6

So far in April the sky watch hasn’t given me the real thrill like the sky did the 15th of January this year. First I will show you the sky in the west. . .

I love brushstrokes like this, I can just feel how it is making them.
